What works

= Installation =

 Using the official downloader/installer. (Installed to a clean wineprefix)

$ export WINEARCH=win32 (for 64bit users)

$ winetricks ie8 (To get Sony LaunchPad working)

$ wine ./PotBS_setup.exe

This will also install Physx/Flash.  Once you see a grey box, this is LaunchPad loading, it isn't fast, so give it a bit.  Sign-in, and get your 7gig download.

= Launcher =

Sony LaunchPad (required for starting/update the game) works well once it starts, albeit a little slow to initialize.

= Game =

The game crashes when starting.  You will need:

$ winetricks d3dx9_36 (To resolve an unimplemented function error)

$ winecfg -> Applications tab -> Add application -> PotBS.exe -> Set Windows Version to Windows 98 (Keep the default as XP...This is needed to resolve an Out of Memory error).

= Game Play =

Everything I tried worked well and as expected.  Character creation, interacting with others, quests, chat, adjusting settings, movement, sounds.  I didn't experience lag or any odd graphical weirdness.

What does not

The only noticeable issues were that the game crashed when adjusting the resolution (only in-game crash..the resolution was correct after restarting), and, when setting textures to max, it gives the slight effect that you are looking at the far part of the ocean through a window screen.

Additional Comments

For troubleshooting, you can start the game with PotBS.exe, but to actually run the game, it must be started with the LanchPad.exe.
