Important: This requires "Compositing Extensions" to be turned on in X11 (that's under KDE 4.5.5 and TWM). Otherwise it crashes as soon as you load a video with an X-11 Error "Bad Pixmap" at the point where it would normally resize the GUI. So if you did Section "Extensions" Option "Composite" "Disable" EndSection to make KDE stable, take it out again and instead turn off the desktop effects in KDE to achieve the same result.
