As this game is regularly updated (and has been over the past decade), all results are condensed into a single version that represents the current state of the game.
Everything, with the proper patches. I requires Wine to be custom compiled with a few patches from the bugzilla.
First off, to fix the mouse, you need to make the change in this patch. Note that that patch does not apply cleanly anymore, so you will need to make the 1-line change manually in dlls/dinput/mouse.c, around line 323.
Secondly, this patch needs to be applied to prevent the screen from freezing when clicking the 'Settings' tab.
Once the above are done, you will need to disable 'Key Repeat' in Gnome or KDE prior to playing.
Once all the above is done, the game runs near flawlessly. It needs to be run in Windows XP compatibility mode to prevent other problems with the mouse.
What does not
If patches aren't applied (as in the 'What Works' section), the mouse and the in-game 'Settings' tab break.
