Managed to get Quicken 98 (version 7) to work by installing Quicken in this order 1. use winecfg, in the graphics tab, unclick the 3 windows settings, click create a virtual desktop, direct 3d shader none 2. use winecfg and set the windows version to be Windows 98 3. Installed IE4 from the Quicken CD 4. wineboot 5. install quicken using the setup.exe in the quicken directory, not from the cd's root directory. 6. wineboot 7. get a microsoft version of mfc42.dll and put in into the windows/system subdirectoy. Now quicken works completely. Without the dll, quicken will freeze on the splash screen.
