What works

Opening and editing a schematic that was created using this application on a native XP install.

Creating a new (simple) schematic.

Opening and editing (move traces, re-route) a circuit board layout that was created using this application on a native XP install.

Creating a new (simple) circuit board layout.

Doing a design rule check on a circuit board layout.

The check for new versions at startup or on demand works.

The downloadable patch to update 1.1 to 1.1.1 installs without any special handling.

What does not

The graphical editors (both schematic and layout) tend to have mouse droppings behind the cursor; using the built-in redraw function ('v' key) fixes it.

The installer is kind of a two-tiered thing; the first part asks for your details (like name and email), and then the program installer launches. The program installer seems to hang shortly after startup when it is automatically launched by the first part. However, if one then goes to C:\Windows\Temp\RarSFX1 , copies everything in there to another directory, and runs pcbartist1_1.exe , the program installer completes successfully. (Note that RarSFX1 might be RarSFX2, RarSFX3, etc, depending on how many times you've attemped the installation.)
