After installing vcredist_x86.exe from microsoft running sdklauncher.exe wine prints " fixme:actctx:parse_depend_manifests Could not find dependent assembly L"Microsoft.VC80.CRT" " To the console and an unnamed error dialog is opened as follows: Runtime Error! Program: C:\Program Files\id So... R6034 An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Source code installation
The source code supplied with the SDK installs and can be used to create native game executables for win32 and linux platforms, the source install is included with the development tools such as the map editor and texture tools which as of wine version 0.9.59 are working extremely well.
