Installing the game in Win98 mode without DirectX 3. Playing in software rendering, 640x480, in local mode.
What does not
Installing the game in WinXP mode.
Installing DirectX 3.
What was not tested
Controllers other than the keyboard.
Installing the game in WinXP mode silently fails, and starting the game results in the following error being shown: "PROGRAM INCORRECTLY INSTALLED, PLEASE REINSTALL IT." After installing in Win98 mode, playing in WinXP mode works. Trying to use Direct3D results in corrupted graphics here (mesa 6.5.2). You can start the game in software mode with: wine moto.exe -noD3D You can also disable D3D using the Options in-game configuration screen. For some odd timing reason, disabling D3D results in the menu animated background moving very quickly (you can see the difference starting the game with -D3D). This is only a cosmetic annoyance, though. The X server must be configured for 16bpp.
