What works
The install worked fine. It was slow, but that is an issue in Windows as well. Starting it up was also okay, though in order to display the information in the starting window--the one above the "Play" button--the Mozilla Gecko renderer needed to be installed.
What does not
None of the links in the starting window function properly. Attempting to click on them does nothing except print a few fixmes in the Terminal.
Also, the start-up window doesn't work 100%. The scrolling text underneath the News & Updates display doesn't appear. Maple Ranking works fine--still, clicking links doesn't work--but the brand new items in the cash shop don't appear.
Attempting to actually run the game for the first time begins the download of the GameGuard components, which ends in Error 100, asking me to email the *.erl files to the company. Subsequent attempts to run the program resulted in Error 114...
GameGuard: Error Initializing (114)
An error occured while resetting GameGuard. Please try rebooting the system before restarting the client, or close all programs that may potentially collide with the client before restarting. We also recommend running virus/spyware checks for your system.
In the terminal, everything was going fine until the end, when--rather than displaying a stream of fixmes--it gave this...
wine: Unhandled page fault on write access to 0x06933994 at address 0xaf56b9 (thread 0022), starting debugger...
This is nothing new--I've gotten similar results with earlier versions as well. Deleting the GameGuard folder causes it to re-download the components, thus causing Error 100 once more.

Additional Comments
One thing I've been wondering is that if you run it as root, would it make a difference? It wasn't recommended that Wine be set up that way (run as a superuser), but since GameGuard was described as a sort of rootkit... well... you can see where the idea came from. Secondly, I'm not exactly sure what it means by the "Unhandled page fault on write access to..." line. Thirdly, I'm not sure if running it with a cracked client (with GameGuard disabled) would actually allow it to work. I mean, the game regularly checks to see that GameGuard is running, but given the number of hackers in the game, they must have found some way to either disable GameGuard or sneak around it. I'm not exactly sure how those things work, but it might be worth a try... Anyway, I realize that it has been said that GameGuard probably will never work in Wine, but I'm holding out just in case. For things like this, getting it to work in Wine would be the most ideal solution, since Nexon has no intention of porting the game to other platforms, and virtualization is too slow to play on all but the lastest and greatest computers.
