Painter required 'winetricks gdiplus' to start at all. It also shows an error message at start if there is more than 8Gb memory on the computer. I patched wine to report only 4Gb (modified kernel32/heap.c/function GlobalMemoryStatusEx) and the error was gone, but it freezed on "Initializing Plugins".
