What works

I was able to import and run the test.nas file that was distributed with NEiNastran. To get the analysis to run, I just had to add the environment variable NENAST_EXE=C:\\Program/ Files\\NEiNastran/ Engine/ V91\\nastran.exe, but you would have do something like this for Windows too.

What does not

The view window is garbage. It is mostly gray with some erratic lines and pixels. This might be because of my graphics card: Intel G965. The video driver is known to be buggy and incomplete. It is blacklisted by compiz and will not run compiz.

The fonts in the "Messages" window were difficult to read. I changed the font, but it still looked the same. I don't think it was changing the font.

I was not able to test most of the functionality of the application because the view window did not work.

This test is for an evaluation copy of NEiNastran for Windows which is a version of Femap licensed by Noran Engineering from UGS. I use Femap 9.2 at work on Windows.
