Playing the game, making stuff, adding mods, playing with mods, adding NPC's, interacting with NPC's, blowing stuff up, etc.
What does not
Some levels such as GM_Construct.
By default, holding Q to open the menu does not work and causes the menu to blink and the player to look up and spin indefinitely.
To fix this problem, make the Q menu a toggle-able button. A way to do this is to add the following code to your "Config.cfg" or "Autorun.cfg" located in ...\Steam\steamapps\Username\garrysmod\garrysmod\cfg:
alias QToggle "QMenuOn"
alias QMenuOn "+menu; alias QToggle QMenuOff"
alias QMenuOff "-menu; alias QToggle QMenuOn"
Then, once you are in the game go to the console and bind Q to "Qtoggle".

Props killing people or hitting each other causes the game to crash. I don't know what to do about this one except tell you not to get hit by a falling anvil.
There are some fixes out there, though.
Also, FPS is less then half of what it is in Windows.
What was not tested
Multiplayer, non-working levels.
At the time of the tests, I was using an ATi Radeon HD 3800 (512MB) with ATi Catalyst 9.8.

If your garry's mod crashes before submitting a bug or commenting on here, here is what you should try:
This should fix any HUD issues you may have: (You may not be able to see certain effects like fire in the game with this)
In steam right click Garry's mod click Properties click "SET LAUNCH OPTIONS..." Enter this:
to run in windowed mode add: -window -h 864 -w 1152
This will stop the crash when being killed by a moving object:
In winecfg (terminal -> winecfg) click Add application on the Applications tab
Browse to Program Files\Steam\steamapps\(username)
select hl2.exe and click Open
With hl2.exe selected in the list change the windows version to Windows 98 (via the drop down box near the bottom is should be default say "Use global settings")
Hit Apply/OK, then try to launch Garry's mod again
