What works

Loading the menu and starting the game in software rendering mode.

What does not

Actually playing the game.

The best you can do right now is software mode rendering, which will get you the furthest. It will skip the movies and load the game. It renders just fine but input is very bad. I cannot get the mouse to work, it only slowly drifts to the left and won't let me look right. I can look up and down and move with the keyboard but you really can't aim.

I've tried both 1.8 and 1.9.1 and the mouse input is the primary problem

Using OpenGL rendering will just start a completely black screen when the game loads and that's it.

Workarounds

What was not tested

HowTo / Notes

HOWTO

Using winecfg set your Windows Version to Windows 98.

You need to install the game as normal. Patch the game to 1.1 . Then use a nocd patch to remove cdchecks as so far, the game will throw a General Protection Fault if the game trys to run without using a nocd patch. There is a bug for this. The actual cd check works as you can play multiplayer just fine. The nocd patch stops the game from trying to play the movies which crash wine.

*as of RC2 the game works in opengl mode! Feel free to play the the advanced graphics settings.

*I would recommend having wine emulate a desktopsize and not use your whole monitor. On my setup khg got very confused when it went into fullscreen mode. I've had trouble with the curtain blacking out the screen.

**note, I haven't tried very hard to get the standard 1.0 version working as the nocd patch I found didn't work for 1.0
