What works

90% of what I tested works. I did a 2.38gb install of e-Sword on an old laptop. Slow but great. Bible switching is surprisingly fast. Graphics viewing was not super fast but only took a second or two. Searching in dictionary works great, and commentary. Bible searches, sometime works. cut n paste and all copy functions worked. customizing study and topic files works. BUt took a little work to get working, see next section. Prayer request works but x does not close only "okay". Thesaurus works, spelling works, scripture tool works. Gospel Harmony is new and is GREAT! markup works and changing markup files.

What does not

I get some errors like this: fixme:win:animatewindows partial..... fixme:win:LockWindowUpdate..... This seems to be related to the window display and resizing. Resizing does not work. I have a choice a small window that is two small to even show all the bible tabs I have and therefore does not show scripture, dictionary, etc in the 3 window display option of e-Sword. Full screen displays it all and works good. I do not plan on keeping it with that much bloat, but I wanted to test wine good. Due to having about 2,500 files in e-Sword it took 23 seconds start displaying, 34 seconds to complete. I do not think this is a wine issue, but a PIII laptop issue and windows. Having that many files in a directory tends to bog anyway. I should probably hack it and split by type into diff directories, bbl, dic, cmt, top. Responsiveness in switching bibles was excellent. Also dictionaries. Topic files, display switching, bringing up other options was slow. Step viewer partially works. Clicking the contents does not select the desired content. Using the arrow keys works. Resizing the steo window works unlike the basic display, but the resize chops the display making it useless and there is no scroll bar. Search function is one of the fastest things about e-Sword. Something I use a lot. A very basic search of only 1 Bible version for the word Moses ran away leaving my processor pegged even 10 minutes later. Even on a 1gb install on a pocket pc this function only takes 2 minutes and on other laptops a few seconds. Maybe 30 seconds to a minute if I search 10 or 15 bible versions simultaneously. Search function not working at all. Killing the search, left it pegged. Killing e-Sword as well. Killing the parent processes worked to free up resources. Searching again using a different version worked fine. Taking seconds. I did a multi-user install. It did not find *my* version of the topic and study files in *my* e-Sword directory. It worked with the files put in the normal directory. Help function *stalled* my system then errored. System came back slowly. Produced this error in shell: fixme:win:LockWindowUpdate (0x1002e), partial stub! fixme:win:LockWindowUpdate ((nil)), partial stub! [rojen@tinyme e-Sword]$ fixme:ntdll:RtlNtStatusToDosErrorNoTeb no mapping for 8000000a fixme:win:LockWindowUpdate (0x1002e), partial stub! fixme:win:LockWindowUpdate ((nil)), partial stub! Workarounds

What was not tested

printing. I do not yet have printers setup on this box. I did a very thorough test going tab by tab testing most functionality even like resizing fonts. This is a good working system, not yet perfect on my pc/OS/Wine install.

Additional Comments

LOL, no multiplayer mode for this Bible software (silver rating), but most things work. Basic display is flawed and I must use it in full screen or 1 window vs normal 3 to display usefully.
