What works
Had to
wine /media/mint/disk1/setup.exe
twice. First time it was an error. Can enter the game perfectly.
What does not
Everything is super bright. And lowering brightness does not solve the issue. IOW, a huge graphics glitch.
Workarounds
What was not tested
I didn't try any winetricks.
I didn't try export WINEARCH=win32
Hardware tested

1.) You can improve game performance with this registry settings:
[Software\\Wine\\Direct3D] "DirectDrawRenderer"="opengl" "VideoMemorySize"="896" Set VideoMemorySize to correct amount of RAM for your graphics card. 2.)Run the game with WINEDEBUG=-all command (note: if you want to submit bug and post error logs, make sure you are NOT using this command) 3.)Make sure you have latest official drivers installed for you graphics card.
The game can be installed and patched.
To make the game start up with wine you need to add d3dx9_36.dll to .wine/system32
There is easy way to fix the mouse problem, just add this registry key:
[Software\\Wine\\DirectInput]
"MouseWarpOverride"="force"
You will have to use keyboard in menu with this settings, but in game mouse is working without any bugs.

Intel i3 CPU
Intel HD4000 graphics
3.19.0-32-generic #37~14.04.1-Ubuntu kernel
Installed via DVD-ROM:
cd /media/mint/disk1
wine setup.exe #created an error
wine setup.exe #worked trying a second time
# installed successfully with wine 1.7.50 and 1.9.10
cd ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/AC
wine AssassinsCreed_Game.exe
# In 1.9.10 90% of the graphics didn't display and it just showed
# as white. 1.7.50 worked flawlessly.
# I didn't have to do anything fancy to wine. Although I needed
# to turn down the graphics options to get a decent frame rate.

I have Arch linux with kernel 3.11.1-1-ARCH. I use PlayOnLinux 4.2.1-1 with wine 1.7.2-1. I've installed d3dx9_36 and directx (just for test) via POL.
The problem I face is that I can not interact when I am in-game. I can only press Esc to exit. I can't control neither Desmond (outside of the Animus), nor the Assassin. Also, while loading I can't "look around".
I've also tried installing dinput (crashes the game), dinput8 and directplay (and then remove them from winecfg).
MouseWarpOverride=Force does not fix the problem. I've also set DirectDrawRender=opengl and Videomemorysize=512.
Any help appreciated :)
