µTorrent (uTorrent)

What works

The program functions the way it's supposed to and the following also work:

Skins, Scheduler, Drag and Drop (GNOME confirmed), Auto Add Torrents from Firefox (ie: you click torrent links, they open in utorrent), Update button.

What does not

MAXIMISE BUG: DO NOT USE UTORRENT ON ANY OTHER DESKTOP OTHER THAN DESKTOP 1! Running on any of the others will stop utorrent from opening properly again. If you do it by accident go to:

/home//.wine/drive_c/Windows/Profiles//Application Data/utorrent/

and delete the settings file and its backup. Upon re-opening utorrent will reset and all settings will go back to default (EVERYTHING, scheduler, connections port ect...)

WebUI still isnt working.

There may be a bug on some systems where the tray icon wont load properly and you wont be able to maximise utorrent. If this happens, reset the computer (x reset wont work) and in wine config, de-select the option to have the window manager control wine windows. There is a bonus and a draw back for this;
Maximised, uTorrent will appear on all desktops and be on top of everything, minimised it will go to a little black box the left bottom of the screen. REMEMBER TO CLOSE UTORRENT BY GOING TO FILE THEN EXIT, OTHERWISE THE MAXIMISE BUG WILL OCCUR

Additional Comments

While it does run out of the box perfectly one has to be mindful that to keep it that way there are certain things you can't do such as putting uTorrent on another desktop (if your default window manager is handling it) or exiting using file->exit (x button works too) if wine uses its own window manager. I'd like to see support for WebUI as having that would serve as a workaround for the maximise bug (point 1 in not working). I gave it a gold because it does work perfectly out of the box, but things must be remember to keep that up. Also, i have tried earlier versions of uTorrent (1.7.6) with earlier versions of Wine (0.9.46) and found that functionality wise the 0.9.46 version of wine properly supports the tray icon. This could be just my system acting up but i run all my wine programs without my window manager on it.

If/When you get this error:

It seems like uTorrent is already running, but not responding. Please close all uTorrent processes and try again.

you could simply kill all the utorrent processes with:

killall -9 uTorrent.exe

Then just open utorrent, not the installer.

You can also open µtorrent with '/NOINSTALL' parameter but then you can't change any settings (if I understood right). E.g.:

C:\Program Files\uTorrent\uTorrent.exe" /NOINSTALL

It seems that with the new version of Wine Web UI is supported and the RSS features where tested. This is great news as that elevates utorrent to Platinum status on AppDB. Of course more test results are always welcome as it got platinum on 64 bit ubuntu only so far. See Aaron Poley's 64bit 7.10 submission at:
