To get it working, you must install the XP patch, available at http://www.simracingworld.com/files/download/1086-grand-prix-world-windows-xp-patch/ You also need to set up your Xorg to start up in 16-bit colour mode. Or you can use something like xephyr or Xnest to create a new X11 display.
