HowTo / Notes

Enable Widescreen
Go to \system. Open system.ini. Find these lines:

FullscreenViewportX=xxxx
FullscreenViewportY=xxxx

Change them to set your resolution.

Now open user.ini. Find these lines:

DesiredFOV=90
DefaultFOV=90

Change the values to set your FOV to your preference. I recommend 100 for 16:10 displays, and 106 for 16:9 displays.

Information No Longer Valid. DCOM98 No longer available

DCOM98 is no longer available, and without DCOM98 this program will not run. Therefore the method in the description is no longer valid.

Undying has never needed DCOM98 and is therefore running fine without it.

I don't know where you got that from.

right here (Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)) but it appears that I read that wrong:,
appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=1132&iTestingId=4786&bShowAll=true&sAllBugs

the game does install but also produces the "A debugger has been found" error when the environment is set to Windows 98 and when set to anything higher produces a "Cannot Locate CD-ROM Please insert the correct CD-ROM, select OK and restart the application"

I tried reproducing this, but with Wine 1.3.35 the game is just exiting immediately after starting it.

I will investigate that further, have to get some sleep now ;)

I tried the demo, and that does work, although I can't seem to get any sound.

I managed to get the game to run with a "nocd executable", and it even runs with the direct3d option. However, I am unable to get sound working properly. Sometimes the sound will work clearly during the startup video, other times not. In both cases sound after that is gone.

I ran from the console and got these error messages every time, so at least that's consistent:

fixme:process:GetProcessWorkingSetSize (0xffffffff,0x33f67c,0x33f674): stub

I also have another sound issue where sound in the MATE desktop environment doesn't work, where it works fine in Gnome Shell, but since the sound does work in Gnome Shell, that's where I'm trying to get this running from.

I recompiled Wine yesterday. It seems that the wine package for my distro is broken somehow.

What can I say? Latest version, works without any problems. I don't need a NOCD crack for the game.

You should use the latest Wine version and try it again.

Might be my CD-ROM drive, I'll try cleaning the lenses or swapping it out for a new one when I can get one. As for the sound problem, that appears to be a pulse audio problem. I'll post more specific information when I get back to my desktop machine. Anyway, just wanted to say thank you for your time and "Happy Holidays"

You should also check in winecfg, that the cd-rom is mounted on drive D:

Yep, pulseaudio makes always problems. Thank god I use a distribution, which does not use it. Looks like its never been intended for computer games ;)

Thanks and happy holidays too!
