This software contains features that require a paid for License.
Features marked as 'PRO' can only be used in evaluation mode from the free version and if you save the file having used these PRO features - it will be altered to include watermarks making it obvious it has been modified with an evaluation copy.
If you own PDF-XChange PRO V4 or PDF-Tools V4 your license and serial number are also valid for PDF-XChange Viewer PRO
Okular is a KDE application that can view and annotate PDF files (and other formats as well). However, Okular's annotations can only be viewed by Okular while PDF Xchange Viewer's annotations are displayed correctly in Adobe Reader. Also, Okualar depends on many of the KDE libraries, so if you use a Gnome environment (as I do), there is no particular advantage gained from Okular being linux-native.
There have been a few questions in the Tracker forums (the software developer's forums) about linux support for PDF-XChange viewer, the response is "no, it will not be supported." However, in response to a question about retaining menu customisation, the Project director suggested using the portable version of the viewer.
Certainly the smaller file size and the lack of install will be a plus in the face of no live update.
