What works

Weather functions work properly. Latest WeatherScope 1.7.1 test is with Wine 1.1.21  binary and Debian Lenny 5.0.  Help file lists numerous improvements. Performance was fine with previous Wine releases using OpenSUSE 11.1, Mandriva 2009.0, Slackware 12.2, Mepis 7, Ubuntu 7.10, and Kubuntu 8.04.1.  On a fast CPU with plenty of RAM the program flies.

What does not

Help file is in in a MSFT .chm format (compressed html); needs Gecko installed for HTML rendering, or a separate reader. See also: http://wiki.winehq.org/Gecko

"Inspector" panel explaining storm symbols may freeze the program under WINE. Works in Mandriva, but not always in other distros.

Additional Comments

Exceptional program, many resources. Great to have in a storm. Program still works with P-II chip and under 400 MB RAM. In graphics and RAM-challenged machines under Linux/Wine, adding options can become slow. On today's faster machines including netbooks, WeatherScope is quick.
