Version 1.8.0 released September 15, 2010
Load and display overlays of single or multiple Level-III radars, radar mosaics, sat images, contours, gradients, time series, US Roads and county street maps, watches and warnings, map boundaries, topological relief images, animation option. Near-live updates. Mouseover on composite radar shows storm cell detail. Freeware from Oklahoma Climatological Society for educational and non-commercial use.
Weather functions work properly. WeatherScope 1.7.4 tested with Linux Mint-9 and a variant, Peppermint One. Help file lists numerous improvements. Earlier versions performed well under OpenSuSE 11.2, Debian 5.0 "Lenny", Fedora-12, Mandriva 2010.0, Slackware 12.2, Mepis 8.0.10, Pardus 2009, Ubuntu 9.10_x64, and Kubuntu 8.04.1.
Developer reports 1.7.x series will be the last to support Win-2K. Tested with WINE on 32 and 64-bit dual-core systems.

What was not tested
Exceptional program, many resources. You'll want this in a storm. On older, underpowered machines, activating several features at once slows response. On modern computers, including netbooks, WeatherScope is very fast.
