Version 1.8.0 released September 15, 2010
Load and display overlays of single or multiple Level-III radars, radar mosaics, sat images, contours, gradients, time series, US Roads and county street maps, watches and warnings, map boundaries, topological relief images, animation option. Near-live updates. Mouseover on composite radar shows storm cell detail. Freeware from Oklahoma Climatological Society for educational and non-commercial use.
Smooth installation. Help file, inspector panels worked from the start with updated Gecko engine.
What does not
Works well with Ubuntu 10.04.1, especially under wine 1.2.1 but in new Ubuntu 10.10 WeatherScope has been crashing upon exit, plus an old Help file malfunction has re-surfaced due to apparent issue with wine_gecko install - specifically, globe icon doesn't appear and html links don't work. Same problems occurred in testing later WINE versions under Arch, PCLinuxOS, and Fedora 14.
What was not tested
Solid weather tool has evolved over more than a decade.
