The correct video card drivers can make all the difference when playing games and using 3D applications in Linux via Wine. If TrackMania Nations Forever does not work from Steam(or directly from the we) try installing the latest DirectX (DirectX Jun2010) alone and do not use winetricks! Also make sure you have the best and latest Video Drivers for your system. For me the game works great when using "medium" or "low" graphics, and you may have to mess around with the audio panel in game settings to get sound working.
