Additional Comments
You have to copy d3dx9_36.dll into your wine directory. Sound has to be turned off with winecfg, otherwise the game will eat up all memory upon startup. Disabling the sound only for the game using the settings.txt as in Europa Universalis III does not work.

To run the game, you should:
- copy d3dx9_36.dll to windows/system32 in you wine directory
- switch sound driver to OSS (which results in no sound in game for me, but without it game crashes when loading sound)
- use this registry keys:
[Software\\Wine\\Direct3D] "DirectDrawRenderer"="opengl" "OffscreenRenderingMode"="fbo" "VideoMemorySize"="896"Change VideoMemorySize to your amount of ram on your video card.
