This is a student edition version, available from Mentor Graphics for students for free, and a modest amount of information sharing.
Most of the important functionality works. You will miss mixed Verilog/VHDL simulation apparently, and workflow analysis. What remains is very, very useful, almost like the real thing.
The version 6.3e seems to work fully. After many versions that had issues running under wine, this one works and works well.
What does not
The Student edition has some functionality lacking with respect to the commercial version. Still the present functionality is quite enough for good use at home, and certainly better if you can not afford the license. (and most of the time you really can not, it's a lot of money)
What was not tested
I haven't tested in detail. I run by it a few of my VHDL programs, and have yet to confirm functionality.
