What does not
The "splash"-screen needs some windows-DLLs. See comments.
Updating the game to full version does not work. Use version from http://www.topxgames.com/de/games/westward-ii-heroes-of-the-frontier/ and get a key from there!
What was not tested
Playing the game until the end, because the gameplay is limited to one hour.
If you run the menuentry for the game, 2 DLLs from a real windows-installation will be needed: crypt32 and You have to run winecfg to override the default settings for these two DLLs, setting the option to "Native (Windows)". This can be avoided by running the exe inside the directory "bin". Problems with mouse and keyboard may be solved by setting "Allow DirectX apps to stop the mouse leaving their window" and "Allow the window manager to control the windows", which solves the problem when the game does not accept keyboard input. The "Already Registered" Menu-Entry does not work, you are not able to activate a full-version!
