Halo: Combat Evolved

What works

In a graphical environment (X) it works out of the box: All you have to do is start haloded.exe.

To run it on a server that doesn't have the X Window System the following command can be used to start the server:
screen -S HaloPC xvfb-run -a env WINEDEBUG=-all wineconsole --backend=curses haloded.exe
This requires the packages screen and xvfb to be installed.

It has also been tested with the 3rd party server tool called Gandanur, and no problems were encountered.

What was not tested

The installer was not tested. This is not an issue since this isn't needed. One simply needs to copy all the server files and just launch haloded.exe!

Additional Comments

Because the server doesn't use stdout/stdin it can complicate the administration of the dedicated server.
