HOWTO: extract the self extracting archive, use winetricks to install vcrun2005, d3dx9 and corefonts install the msxml4 sp2 from the msxml.msi in the extracted folder (the one on winetricks is sp4 and thus does not work with FSX). start fsx.exe from extracted/program files/Microsoft Games/Flight Simulator X Demo Files For the first run, run it in a virtual desktop, so you will be able to see the EULA and click accept. If you run it in non-virtual desktop, and it gets stuck on the splash screen, press Enter, because there is a hidden warning message. The game works amazingly well, but there is a room for improvement. Sometimes it fails to render the game and shows black screen.
