Everything in the game works normally up to the first trip through the Metro in the storyline. No DLL override or use of Winetricks is required to install or play the game.
What does not
Fatal crash at the part of the storyline where you make your first trip through the Metro and access the game's internal PA. This prevents me from continuing the game past that point as there is no storyline way around it. EDIT: (found a workaround, detailed in later test results) There are some problems with pixel shaders which may cause a blank or monotone display. This is detailed in the HowTo.
What was not tested
The things beyond the Metro incident.
There are random in-game PA related lockups, mainly at the Inventory screen. These are present on all platforms, not just Wine. I did not require any DLL overrides or any use of Winetricks or similar methods to install or use this program. It is my recommendation to not use any such methods as they may interfere with debugging other problems.
