Additional Comments

Used hatred no-cd. The game hang on my a couple of times when entering new areas with: "*** glibc detected *** Penumbra.exe: double free or corruption (fasttop): 0x60a18cf0 ***", switched texture quality down a notch and problem went away... Guessing it has something to do with me only having 256MB videoram?

At first run, Wine gives an error message:

So I figured I'd do what others recommended; install the latest versions of Openal32. I got nothing but the same for this. So I downloaded older drivers of OpenAL32 from other websites, and found that when combined with the latest no-cd patch (after patching the game itself that is) that I got a black screen. I felt that this seemed like a step in the right direction, but now I'm stuck wondering if I'm running around in circles. Any ideas on how to overcome this problem?

By the way, I'm running this on Ubuntu Jaunty, 64bit, with wine 1.1.22.
