Cleaning up the Distorted Sound
Open Wine's Configuration dialog, by finding it in your distribution's programs menu, or by running "winecfg" from the terminal.
Select the "Audio" tab, located near the top of the dialog box. It may take a while to display.
Near the bottom of the dialog, you will see a box labelled "DirectSound", in there select the checkbox labelled "Driver Emulation".
Click "Apply" to apply the changes.
