What works

Installing app, running qw.exe, manual data entry into a checking account, app preferences, help system, QIF export, changing font in checkbook register.

What does not

I don't expect the internet-based features to work.

Clicking on any Print button, or trying to access File|PrinterSetup dialog will instantly crash the app. Dont't do it.

A few TextBoxes are cutting off the text (text characters are missing on the right end.)

Workarounds

What was not tested

Did not test internet features, which includes app update or banking statement download.

I did not attempt to register the app with intuit web site. Intuit disables most internet features after a couple years (to force you to upgrade)

Additional Comments

Before installing, I used winecfg to make "win7" the default. I did *not* force a 32-bit install, nor did I install anything using winetricks. This was the only app in a new .wine directory. I mounted the cdrom, changed to top directory of cdrom and ran: wine install.exe After copying a whole bunch of files, a crash dialog appeared (something with a pdf printer.) DON'T CLOSE IT, but let install continue. When progress bar stops increasing, at about 90%, then close the crash dialog and the install will complete. On my second attempt, I instead ran: wine start 'autorun\autorun.exe' When prompted to install Billminder on sidebar, I answered No. When prompted to Get Updates, I declined by clicking Next. At final screen, I unchecked "Launch" and clicked Done. To run the app, I use: wine start 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Quicken\qw.exe' My real Windows installation of Quicken had been updated, so the cdrom version refused to open my current data file. I renamed wine's Program Files Quicken directory, and copied over the entire directory tree from my real Windows machine. The app then successfully opened my current data file.
