Additional Comments

Use winetricks to install the following ; d3dx9 vcrun2005 corefonts That much will get it to start/run however due to the above issues game is pretty much unusable - only just bronze Admin note: rating changed to conform to the rating definitions.

HowTo / Notes

HOWTO: Run the game basicly
You may have to install the VB runtime libraries with the winetricks script. I choose to install all versions so I don't have any trouble with missing runtimes. If you start the game you will see an empty sea with no ship in it. More in bug report.

HOWTO Get it working with wine-1.1.42 and later
The solution is simple:
  1. Download d3dx9_36.dll e.g. from www.dll-files.com
  2. Unzip the DLL into Ship-Simulator's main folder (along side of the main EXE file)
  3. Optional: Checkout the load-order, it should be unset or "native,built-in"
  4. Launch the game
Well, this is, of course, not fully supported by WineHQ because Wine will load the native version. Anyway of this, the game may still crash temporarily.
