Additional Comments
This is what I did to install the game: * Copy the DVD/CDs to ISO-files (dd if=/dev/cdrom of=file.iso or so) * Install Baldur's Gate II, choose custom install, and install all of it. Mount the iso images and use wine eject to change cds during install * Install the Throne of Baal expansion choose custom install, and install all of it * Install the patch from http://www.bioware.com/games/throne_bhaal/support/patches/ * Install the BGII fixpack from http://www.gibberlings3.net/bg2fixpack/ * Install the widescreen mod from http://www.gibberlings3.net/widescreen/ (I installed the Windows-version as the Linux-version gave me some grief, don't remember exactly what)

Multiplayer can work, but requires some setup first.
The problem is with the current DirectPlay implementation. Read here how to set it up: http://wiki.winehq.org/DirectPlayGames
To get multiplayer working for games that use a DirectPlay version prior to 8, place the following DLLs:
dplayx.dll, dpnet.dll, dpnhpast.dll and dpwsockx.dll in this archive in WINE's windows/system32 directory, then add DLL overrides (native, builtin) with WINECFG.
