What works

VB6 application starts fine with default settings. Manually create a link in the dosdevices directory to map com1.

What does not

Installation fails to register STRIP.OCX. This can be rectified by copying MFC42.DLL to the windows/System32 directory and then running

wine regsvr32 strip.ocx

Settings files are either not loading correctly, or are not being displayed correctly. Once the application starts, all settings stay at their default values instead of correctly loading from the file.

Workarounds

What was not tested

Did not test datalogging  or reading/writing settings since the application did not initialize properly.

Additional Comments

According to WINEDEBUG=+loaddll, the following built-in DLLs are loaded by the application: advapi32.dll, iphlpapi.dll, rpcrt4.dll, ntoskrnl.exe, msvcrt.dll, ole32.dll, oleaut32.dll, imm32.dll, winspool.drv, shlwapi.dll, comctl32.dll, shell32.dll, comdlg32.dll, comdlg32.dll, uxtheme.dll, stdole2.tlb I tried replacing these files with current XP files and adding overrides for them to be run natively, but then the application crashes on startup. I also tried reporting the OS as both Win98 and Win2000, which had no effect. The following "fixme" messages were displayed: fixme:ole:OleLoadPictureEx (0xb11cdc,1086,0,{7bf80980-bf32-101a-8bbb-00aa00300cab},x=0,y=0,f=0,0x32fae8), partially implemented fixme:ole:OleLoadPictureEx (0xb11cdc,46694,1,{7bf80980-bf32-101a-8bbb-00aa00300cab},x=0,y=0,f=0,0x32fa88), partially implemented fixme:ole:OleLoadPictureEx (0xb11cdc,1086,1,{7bf80980-bf32-101a-8bbb-00aa00300cab},x=0,y=0,f=0,0x32fa58), partially implemented fixme:ole:OLEPictureImpl_get_hPal unimplemented for type 3. HowTo / Notes

strip.ocx
Investigated strip.ocx and it is the "GMS Strip Chart ActiveX Control" from www.globalmajic.com/c10/Strip-Chart-v35-p16.html

This shouldn't be an immediate showstopper in FC_Tune, since it should only be used for the charting functionality, which isn't initially shown when the application is started.
