Word processing component of Office 2007.
The application works almost flawlessly. The last-big-fix was removing the "oriya" fonts from my system. It seems that Word crashes whenever it finds the font, even though none of the documents use it.
apt-file search ttf-oriya-fonts
apt-get remove ttf-oriya fonts
apt-get remove ttf-indic-fonts-core
After this "adjustment" to the system, Word works almost flawlessly.
What does not
Macros sometimes crash or aren't found. Closing and re-starting Word fixes the problem.
Cascading menus don't always stay open long enough to select sub-menus. The work around is to select the sub-menu quickly.
Image cut and paste from the selection or clipboard is a bit quirky. Usually works. Try using "diodon" or similar clipboard manager; this helps smooth data moving between the X-clipboard and the X-selection.
Font management can get tricky because Ubuntu has fonts not normally installed for Windows users. Wine finds the "system" fonts and offers them to Word.
What was not tested
I use Word 2007 extensively and daily for my job, using styles, macros, sharing with Windows and Mac users. No problems sharing files during about two years of use with Wine.

Workarounds for bugs 23805 and 30587:
Solution 1: Run in an emulated virtual desktop. This is probably the easiest solution for most users.
Solution 2: Uncheck "Allow the window manager to control the windows" in winecfg. The downside is that Word will no longer show up in the taskbar.
Solution 3: (KDE users only) In System Settings, Window Behavior, do the following:
X will crash when scrolling a document in Word 2007 when using a driver in this series. Upgrade to 195.xx.xx or later.
