What works
Nearly everything works: Loading presentations Creating text Creating graphics Cutting/Pasting images between Powerpoint and gimp (and other Linux applications) Displaying the presentation Exporting as PDF/XPS with add-on from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=7
What does not
When resizing and editing shapes, the screen becomes black, this makes it difficult to see what you are doing (but it is still usable though). Note: this bug is fixed in Wine 1.5.4 (I have just updated, I will make another post as soon as I have fully tested it).

Additional Comments
* I changed the following DLL overrides (as recommended in previous posts): riched20(native) * I am using it on a regular basis for my professional presentations and did not encounter any problem. I could also load my previous presentations flawlessly. * I also installed additional fonts using 'winetricks'

Workarounds for bugs 23805 and 30587:
Solution 1: Run in an emulated virtual desktop. This is probably the easiest solution for most users.
Solution 2: Uncheck "Allow the window manager to control the windows" in winecfg. The downside is that Powerpoint will no longer show up in the taskbar.
Solution 3: (KDE users only) In System Settings, Window Behavior, do the following:
