Skype 4.0 introduced a completely overhauled UI. Now by default all Skype conversations take place in the central window. Turning Skype from an small accessory to an app that requires nearly full screen.
Version 220.127.116.11 File size 22 MB. Official release. Release date: February 3, 2009. File name: SkypeSetup.exe
Installs using http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-msi link with the command "wine start [msi file]" on a fresh wine install.
Runs. You can log on. Lots of error windows afterward. Then crashes when contacts are loaded.
What does not
Using Skype after logging on.
What was not tested
Using Skype, like making and receiving calls and IMs.
Compared to the other testers, I got a lot farther and had better luck with the MSI. I am pretty sure Skype tries to download the MSI version when the default Skype installer fails, but the URL is not loaded correctly.
