I connected to the Autostar handbox over COM1 after soft linking /dev/ttyUSB0 to COM in de dosdevices directy. I Ubuntu 8.10 default Wine 1.0.1 version. I only use Meade AutoStar Updater 4.85 and the AutoStar Suite 5.0. For all the other tools I have native Linux tools.
