What works

Most functionality of the application; Audio files can be created, recorded from analog inputs, opened, edited, played and saved in any desirable format (e.g. mp3). The waveform display operates correctly. Normal native Cool Edit plugins work (FFT filter, noise reduction...). Clipboard functionality.

What does not

Audio would not play back at 32bit - instead garbage would be played back. This was fixed by forcing the application to output audio data in 16 bit resolution (in the settings dialog).

All of the image buttons are garbled, making it difficult to know what buttons are being pressing without waiting for the tooltips.

Additional Comments

You MUST remove the DirectX.xfm file from the Cool Edit program installation directory to avoid hangind at splash screen (bug 10747). You may need to have IE6.0 installed (with Winetricks) to start the program correctly. Don't ask me why, I don't know yet... :) And finally, I feel quite happy because my favorite toy runs again - under Linux now!
