The latest version of WINE at the time of this writing (1.1.12) has handled running Blood II the best out of all the previous versions I have used. The sounds now work perfectly, and the Software renderer works at all quality settings. The DirectX renderer runs at a better speed in this release, even faster than the Software render at high quality when DirectX is set to low.
I have played both the Retail version of Blood II and The Nightmare Levels expansion pack.
What does not
The mouse does not moth smoothly at the screen. While not fatal, it could still use improvement.
The DirectX renderer, why better in some ways than previous versions of WINE, does have its series of problems. At the lowest setting the bottom bar does not redraw properly, retaining textures from the menus and intertestionals, as well as the number variables. At higher levels it retains the aforementioned redraw problem as well as the fact that only the gun is textured, leaving everything else plain gray.
What was not tested
BloodBath (I ran the maps, but have not tested network play)
Hoping for better performance in the future, I can't live without this game.
