What works
I used Photoshop 7 with WINE for several days for work. -
I tested the workflow needed to make video game graphics. Almost everything works although there is still a big bug which holds in back from being used for me.
What does not
- On the Save File dialog sometimes the text input becomes corrupt and garbage text appears
- Toolbox windows frequently disappear when minimizing main window, they can be brought back to resetting palette locations.
- Main tool window on the left can disappear and it's not recoverable with the above method. Definitely a show-stopper.
- Cannot drag images into photoshop from the web / desktop.
- Funny text displayed in "Save for Web" section under number of colours.

Basically one or two real showstoppers not allowing me to use PS7 in a professional environment. Looking forward to these big bugs being squashed in the next update.

When you want to use the clone tool, you'll find the following useful:
ALT-Click is intercepted by most window managers and used as the "move window", so you have to either use shift-alt-click instead, or configure your window manager to use something else for "move window". For instance, on Ubuntu, do System / Windows / Movement Key, and pick "Super" instead of "Alt". See also the codeweavers FAQ.

I was having problems with the Photoshop 7 ALT-Click keybinding in a new Debian install running Compiz. I did the standard window manager tweak but it still didn't work properly. Then I discovered an ALT-Click keybinding in the Compiz Window Management > Move Window > Initiate Window Move settings. I changed it to 'super' like in Gnome window management and voila, it seemed to get it working again in Photoshop. You might want to add that bit of info to the clone tool info on the Photoshop 7 page. earther

Settings > Settings Manager > Window Manager Tweaks > Accessibility > change Key used to grab to "none".
