Micrografx Picture Publisher

A simple yet powerful image manipulation program. I personally believe it has the power of photoshop, with the ease of use of paint. While GIMP can technically do most of these tasks under Linux, the UI for GIMP is significantly more complex. EG, rotating a selection in GIMP requires entering the degrees, in Picture Publisher, you use a gui tool.

What works

Wine 1.7.39

Programm will install.

Majority of functions are 100%.. .usable with workarounds.

I achieved good results by disabling "Direct Draw" in the display options.

What does not

Filter Pens (Lighten/Darken/Sharpen/Smoothen) cause crash.

File Dialogs for Open/Save cause crash as described in test above.

Drag the image file from a linux file manager onto the running PicturePublisher window works great to open image files. Also inserting (new) images via clipboard from other Linux apps works.

Saving Images via "Export - Web Export" works.

Once the file is open pressing just Save (and not Save As) also works.

Tried the patches and updates from here, but no success with this:

Additional Comments

Still a good software for image processing; I prefer it over gimp.
