Online Multiplayer

HOWTO

Installation

The following DLLs are required to install and run Rise of Nations:

Cursor Bug

There is a cursor bug that can:

  • Cause the mouse buttons to not do what you expect; or
  • Cause a transparency problem with the cursor; or
  • All of the above

To work around this, edit the rise2.ini file (~/.wine/drive_c/users/{user}/Application Data/Microsoft Games/Thrones and Patriots Trial/rise2.ini) and set "ForceGDICursor=1".

Please report if you had to do this when submitting reports.

mouse key single left-click
by f6p30 on Wednesday September 23rd 2009, 4:22
I had the same bug as mentionned but the solution was different:

In the file ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/profiles/fpwin/Application Data/Microsoft Games/Rise of Nations/rise2.ini,

I changed O to 1 at the lin ForceLowCPUBackgroundVid=1 and now the mouse key single left-click is goin well.

By the way :
I Use debian lenny with whine 1.0.1-1
I downloaded Patchw32.dll from the given addresstéléchargé à l'adresse indiquée
I installed mfc42.dll using the winetricks script with "vb6run – MS Visual Basic 6 runtime" selected

To enable multiplayer games I installed some dlls using the winetricks with "directplay – MS DirectPlay (from DirectX 9 user redistributable)" selected

In the file ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/profiles/fpwin/Application Data/Microsoft Games/Rise of Nations/rise2.ini changed to 1 the SkipIntroMovies=1 parameter to skip the videos at the beginning

and forgive my bad ennglish.
