What works

  • Adding loops from the library
  • Playing and arranging multiple tracks *
  • Editing tempo/pitch
  • Saving / exporting

What does not

  • Crashes after performing some basic operations, such as accesing the preferences or help menu
  • * Playing 3-4 tracks usually sounds fine, but any more and the audio will start to gargle/stutter
  • Basic functions have a 1-3 second interface lag (which makes it extremely hard/impossible to precisely edit the tracks)

What was not tested

  • Burning to CD

Hardware tested

  • GPU:
  • Driver:

Additional Comments

Would be great software if it were not for its intollerable slowness. There are free (and open source) programs out there that do everything Mixcraft can, such as Audacity or Ardour (my personal favorite), so go and check those out.

I'm using the latest version of Wine, and I'd really like to see this program work properly, the first issues appearer to be a lack of speed, now it's the exact opposite, when ever i tell it to plat the tracks the black line that shows where on the track it is reading just fly's off to the right as fast as it possibly can, the sound still plays properly with the exception of the previewing option which will play less and less of a loop when you ask it to preview the loop, i would really like to see this program work in the near future
