Everything works beautifully! See below. (Run SporeApp.exe -safe)
What does not
Lighting effects cause crashes, turning them off can solve this...see comments.
What was not tested
The one thing that I have done, that I have not seen anywhere else, is the adding of the, "-safe" switch when running SporeApp.exe. This, in combination with wine 1.1.4 (using this patch: http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=15883, NOT git source!) Has provided a flawless game. I have played through the whole game, received creatures from friends, sent creatures to friends, subscribed to sporecasts, there is nothing that does not work. Run SporeApp.exe in safemode: SporeApp.exe -safe You must turn lighting effects off, as they crash the game for some people.

The easiest way to play Spore without problems in Wine:
If you experience problems:
If you experience graphical problems, please try to run your copy with the -safe flag, then file a bug with whether it works differently or not.
If you have problems with reaching the license server, please build from GIT or use this patch.
