Additional Comments

Choppy play, but that may be due to bad 2D graphics driver support for my nvidia card. Or maybe the game is that way - haven't played it on other OS's.

Improving Performance
by Mark Sutherland on Monday August 29th 2011, 22:53
Using ddr = opengl (I just use WineTricks for this) allows the game to run at very acceptable speed, as long as special effects are set to off in the main menu of the game. It should run well under these settings on Wine 1.3.21-24.

Wine 1.3.25 and beyond seem to have sound issues (I also had a peculiar graphic error in Wine 1.3.27, which I was able to repeat, but I can't seem to repeat it any longer -- must have conflicted with a WineTrick). Also, do not run this (or I suspect any app) under Wine 1.3.20, as it will run havoc on your registry.

DirectSound will work, but it will cause music to stop playing. When DirectMusic is applied after this, the menu music will work, but I was unable to play the game without crashing. Perhaps an additional driver is required..?

If I work up the patience I may add a Test Result, but I suggest someone submit a bug for the loss of sound in current revisions in the meantime.

To prevent the application from going fullscreen (which crashed my X server) you can start it like this:

wine explorer /desktop=Iji,800x600 "C:\\Program Files\\iji\\iji.exe"
