What works

  • Launching
  • Starting new campaigns (Ancaria and Underworld)
  • Saving, loading
  • Singleplayer and Multiplayer gameplay

Settings (other values of these have been tested):

  • Graphics - High
  • Transparency - 50%
  • "Atmospheric Animations" - True
  • Mouse: Follow enemy - True
  • Autosave - False
  • Overview map - True
  • Blood - True
  • FSAA - True
  • Sound - all 100%, 3D card not detected (not a Wine error)
  • Internet - DSL

config.exe settings:

  • Fullscreen - False
  • Play movies - True
  • 32 bit color depth - True
  • AA filtering - True
  • Video compat mode - False
  • Logging - True
  • Sound - True

What does not

All listed problems are not critical. Game will run fine.

  • Videos are being skipped out of the box
  • Sacred's native font is not showing inside loading/saving bars
  • Moving the Sacred window does not move the contents of it (they appear to be "glued" to the middle of the screen)
  • Fullscreen locked to 1024x768. On Cinnamon: Doesn't revert monitor back to native resolution after exiting

Workarounds

Videos - two possibilities:

  1. config.exe > unset "Play movies".
  2. winetricks amstream devenum quartz wmp9. Important: Press Yes in codec installation!

Font:
Only affects the texts in loading/saving bars. To resolve:
Install _antqs.ttf and caroline.ttf fonts to your local system. They are found in gamedir/font directory.

Window movement:

  1. Don't move it.
  2. winecfg > Enable virtual desktop: 1024x768

Fullscreen:

There is no way to set the fullscreen size except with external programs.
One possible workaround is to enable virtual desktop with your native resolution.
