What works

All music editing and entry functions work without issues.  So do file
saving and creating and searching function.  With Cups functioning,
and the fonts you wish to use for lyrics installed in WINE, printing scores
works quite well.   Playback with Timidity++ is also without problems.

What does not

Some HELP file rendering does not work.

Additional Comments

In order to hear playback, the app requires a software synth such as Timidity++ to be installed and running when the app is started. Some javascript links in the HELP file are not followed the app Kchmviewer may help with this. Some keyboard shortcut keys are trapped by the OS so the Mozart's shortcut re-mapping function may be needed. For difficulties, refer to the quite friendly and knowledgeable Yahoo user group described at: http://www.mozart.co.uk/mozartists/mailinglist.htm

HowTo / Notes

Note
For the note entry echo to function properly, MOZART *REQUIRES* a software or hardware synthesizer
recognized by WINE/ALSA, and selected in the MOZART menu: Global preferences | MIDI port. Timidity++ in
server mode works well for this--so does Jack/Fluidsynth. Without a true synth port, it is possible to select
MIDI input and MIDI output ports that cause an I/O feedback. This can cause a note to automatically
and repetitively enter itself over and over, making the program un-usable and un-closeable without killing
WINE. This condition may require one to do the equivalent of this at a console:
$killall -9 wineserver
$killall -9 winedevice.exe
To avoid this condition, do not select "wine MIDI mapper" as a MIDI output port, do not enable MIDI in, and
for overkill, mute the selections under: Global preferences | MIDI echo. Or just use Timidity++,
Jack/Fluidsynth, a soundcard with MIDI ports, or an external MIDI device recognized by ALSA,
and select a MIDI port in MOZART menu: Global preferences | MIDI port.
WARNING
Running the program *without* a synth and Mozart's note-echo turned on can cause a recursive note entry (looping). Trying to enter a note in this state causes it to be persistently re-entered ad-infinitum. This is solved by using a softsynth such as Timidity++ or fluidsynth and setting Mozart to use it for note output.
