What works

Installs fine, most things work as expected.

What does not

On the Library Bar - When it is clicked it closes the clipbook. The workaround is to click and drag off the desired library. This happens on all NoteTab Light, Standard, and Pro. This happens on all distributions of Linux.

When it is minimized and then restored, a second "title bar" appers. The Developer says that this is because the application is written in Delphi. This also occurred on an earlier version of Wine, but was resolved with Wine 1.0.0. This happens on all distributions of Linux.

HOWTO

I have the best success with Wine if I uninstall the old version of Wine before installing the new version.

I keep a copy of the install for the version that I know works, so if the new version of Wine introduces new issues, I can easily roll back to a working configuration.

All the user settings are unaffected by uninstalling Wine. All user settings are kept under /home/username/.wine.

If you want to try a completely new install of NoteTab or any other Windows program and preserve your settings, you can rename the .wine directory in your user directory. There have been no issues that have required this for a couple of years.

No special settings have been required to get NoteTab Light or Standard to work with recent versions of Wine. At one point, we did have to copy the Richedit dlls from Windows. This was not needed for installation, only to get text display and actions to work correctly. NoteTab Pro does not rely on the Richedit dlls.

The best place for questions on NoteTab and Linux is the Yahoo Group.http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/ntb-linux/
