Everything works as far as we have been able to tell in 4 months of regular use.
Works fine with MySQL and PostgreSQL with basic wine install, But requires MDAC support for IBM DB2 (and probably others), recommend using winetricks for this. We used MDAC 2.8 with no problems (with wine-1.0).
* Graphical design UI - very good, no problems encountered
* Database SQL generation perfect
* Report features very good
* Version control excellent* All Data Dictionary manager/report features work well
What does not
Still a minor problem exporting graphics with version 3 style bitmaps as in earlier versions - results in access violation error. The fix is simply to use a text indicator instead of the bitmap. (This does not affect any use other than exporting graphics
What was not tested
We use it mostly with MySQL 3, 4 and 5, PostgreSQL 7, 8 and IBM DB2. We have not used it much with other databases other than testing and curiosity.
We also use built-in facilities for viewing text files (ie, generated SQL). Defaults to MS Faxviewer which we do not use under wine.
We were running it in production under wine 9.55 but had to change to wine 1.0 to get MDAC to work with DB2. We have also experimented briefly with Mandriva 2009 RC1 (2.6.27 kernel) and wine 1.1.4 built from source - works great!
